3 Day Hands-on class

Essential Climbing, Safety & Rescue Training

Throughout this course, we will cover essential skills and safety techniques to prepare climbers for real-world tree work. From foundational climbing preparation and equipment setup to advanced movement techniques, this training is designed to build confidence, efficiency, and proficiency in tree access and work positioning.

In addition, the course will focus on First Aid, CPR, and Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP), providing critical knowledge to identify and avoid electrical hazards while ensuring climbers are equipped to handle emergency situations. Participants will also gain hands-on experience in aerial rescue, learning proper rescue techniques, equipment usage, and emergency response strategies to safely and effectively manage high-risk scenarios.

Whether it’s mastering climbing fundamentals, understanding life-saving safety protocols, or executing aerial rescues, this comprehensive training covers it all.

*All climbing gear and PPE must pass gear inspection to use.

Class Training Topics

Day 1: Climber Preparation Course

  • Fundamental climbing techniques and best practices
  • Proper gear selection, inspection, and maintenance
  • Safe and efficient body positioning for tree access
  • Rope management and knot applications
  • Risk assessment and hazard identification

Day 2: First Aid, CPR & EHAP | Climber Operations & Advanced Techniques

  • First Aid and CPR training for emergency response
  • Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP) – recognizing and avoiding electrical risks
  • Climbing techniques for work positioning and maneuverability
  • Advanced tree movement methods and safety protocols
  • Gear inspection and setup for optimal performance

Day 3: Aerial Rescue Training

  • Hands-on aerial rescue techniques for emergency situations
  • Proper use of rescue equipment and harness systems
  • Emergency response planning and risk mitigation strategies
  • Real-world rescue scenarios and team coordination
  • Safe and effective descent methods in rescue operations

Gear

  • Required (PPE) Personal Protective equipment: ie footwear (boots), helmet, work attire, safety glasses, and ear protection
  • Personal climbing gear is optional and must pass gear inspection prior to use.
